Elegant Forest Wedding

Back in May, I had the honor and privilege of not only standing beside my sister as she got married, but also creating the flowers for her wedding day. Getting to be both her sister and her florist made this experience incredibly personal, and it is a day I know I will always remember. Flowers have always been such a meaningful part of how I celebrate the people I love, so being able to create them for my own sister felt even more special.

The wedding took place surrounded by the beauty of the forest, and we wanted the floral design to feel elegant without losing the natural character of the setting. I leaned into organic shapes, soft movement, and layers of texture so that the arrangements felt connected to the trees and greenery surrounding the celebration. Rather than trying to recreate the landscape with flowers, I wanted the designs to complement what was already there and create a feeling that was romantic, elevated, and effortless. Every arrangement had its own movement and personality, but together they created a cohesive floral story throughout the day.

Creating wedding flowers for someone you love carries a very different kind of emotion. I found myself thinking about all the little details that make a wedding day feel personal, and I wanted the flowers to feel just as meaningful. One of the ways I chose to honor Ella was through her bouquet. I intentionally selected flowers that told pieces of her and Brady’s love story. Since they got engaged in Hawaii, we incorporated Hawaiian orchids as a nod to that special place and moment in their relationship. We also included tulips as a tribute to our mom, whose wedding bouquet was full of white tulips. Together, these small floral details made her bouquet feel incredibly personal. I got to watch my sister marry the person she loves, stand beside her as she stepped into this next chapter, and contribute something I love to one of the most important days of her life. May will always hold a special place in my heart, not only because it was my sister’s wedding, but because I got to be a small part of creating the beauty that surrounded it.
